Located in Lake County, very close to Clermont, we found the most beautiful hills in one of the highest points in Florida!
Contrary to what the majority of people think, in our opinion, not all of Florida is flat land. Which is why we fell in love driving up the hills in Sugarloaf Mountain. Although a short drive, the way up here feels like it might never end, and going down is…. well, let’s just say we won’t be driving around this hill at night. For sure – not.
All in all, the spectacular views at one of the highest points in Florida are definitely a must-see.
Sugarloaf Mountain, one of the highest points in Florida with spectacular views
At 321 feet above sea level, it’s the fifth-highest point in Florida and the highest hill outside the Panhandle. Also in the list of the highest points in Florida is Iron Mountain, which we also had the chance to see when we visited the beautiful Bok Tower Gardens in Lake Wales.
Regardless, guess which one is our favorite? You got it. Sugarloaf Mountain!
And we love it not only because of the spectacular hills but also because it leads to a very special place.
Green Mountain Scenic Overlook
It leads here. This is the place where you will get to experience the most spectacular views at one of the highest points in Florida. Green Mountain Scenic Overlook is one of the newest additions around this area – the overlook opened in 2014.
Once here, you’ll find a pavilion, a trailhead for the Lake Apopka Loop Trail, and an observation tower. The tower rises 132 feet above sea level and it features a boardwalk that leads to the most beautiful views in Central Florida. Because of this, it’s a very special place that we love visiting time and time again.
And if you’ve ever wondered where the highest points in Florida are, you can definitely start by driving up the hills at Sugarloaf Mountain. Furthermore, experiencing the sunset views from the Green Mountain Scenic Overlook.
