Southern Charm: Our Engagement Photos in Savannah

By now, I’m sure you know that Carlos and I are engaged! And now the time has come for us to share our engagement photos in Savannah, Georgia.

But first, a little bit about the proposal…

Carlos chose my favorite season (autumn) for the proposal in Shenandoah National Park and it was perfection!

Hiking and spending time in the great outdoors truly defines who I am, so it brings me infinite joy to have had this incredible moment happen the way it did.

Carlos proposed while hiking on the Dark Hollow Falls Trail, which is a nice and easy trail in Shenandoah. The stunning fall colors all around and the sound of the falls created the most calming and cozy ambiance.

The fall season in Virginia is indeed magical and I couldn’t be happier to ‘say Yes!’ surrounded by the autumn colors I love so much.

Why Did We Choose Savannah?

I may be biased, but Savannah has got to be one of the dreamiest places, hands down! We skipped going over options to choose a destination for our photos because I already knew it had to be in Savannah.

Needless to say, we chose the Historic District in Savannah because it’s my favorite city in the southern U.S.

Personal preferences aside, the city’s undeniable beauty is also at the top of the list for many couples who choose to have their engagement photos in Savannah.

Savannah also happens to be one of the most romantic destinations for couples. With the city draped in gorgeous Spanish moss and oak trees, it was the best backdrop for our engagement photos.

Its cobblestone streets, cozy cafés, horse carriages, and historic charm, are quite convincing to set a romantic tone if you ask me.

For our engagement photos, the azaleas had already started to bloom; that, my friends, was the icing on the cake!

How the Day Went During Our Engagement Photos in Savannah

Being the simple girl I am, I had only two special requests–Spanish moss and historic houses. Thankfully, our photographer Ashlee, knew exactly how to make it happen.

We started in front of the picturesque fountain at Forsyth Park and made our way through the park surrounded by moss and azaleas. It was late afternoon and the golden hour glow peeking through the trees was utterly magical.

We walked around Bull Street and towards the Armstrong Kessler Mansion before heading to Savannah’s most beautiful streetJones Street.

To me, Jones Street in Savannah is the epitome of Southern charm and elegance. The canopy of mature oak trees that drape the street with Spanish moss, creates such a serene and otherworldly atmosphere.

The historic cobblestone streets and stunning 19th-century architecture feature some of the most beautiful homes with ornate ironwork and cutest front porches. Which of course, all took part in our engagement photos in Savannah.

Final Thoughts

As our photoshoot in Savannah drew to a close, I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of gratitude. Not just for the stunning images we’d captured, which were as dreamy as the city itself, but for the incredible experience that came with it.

The Historic District of Savannah, with its captivating blend of picturesque beauty and historic charm, provided the perfect stage for our love story.

As we strolled down the streets, we talked and laughed, lost in our little world, yet fully immersed in Savannah’s romantic ambiance.

Just like on all our previous weekend getaways in Savannah, every corner turned revealed another little secret garden, another detail in its stunning architecture, another reason to fall in love with its charm.

It was as if Savannah conspired to make this the most perfect day with memories we’d cherish forever.

After we were done with our engagement photos in Savannah, we had a sushi dinner at Coco & Moss right across Ellis Square.

It’s a locally-owned cozy boutique eatery with a chic fresh look, great ambiance and delicious food. Definitely check them out on your next visit to Savannah!

To couples considering Savannah for their engagement photos or even just a romantic getaway, I can say with certainty that you won’t be disappointed.

The magic of this city effortlessly became a part of our love story and we couldn’t be happier for choosing it as the destination for such a special day.

So here’s to Savannah, to love, and to finding beauty in every step of life’s journey together!
